Privacy Policy

AccBook takes your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.

1. What Data We Collect

When you use AccBook, we collect and store:

• Your name and email address (for account creation and login)
• Your password (stored as a secure encrypted hash — never in plain text)
• Financial data you enter — expenses, income, categories, credit card details, and notes
• Session tokens to keep you logged in

We do not collect your device information, location, browsing history, or any data beyond what you explicitly enter.

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used only to:

• Provide the AccBook service — showing your expenses, income, and reports
• Keep you logged in securely
• Allow you to export your own data

We do not use your financial data for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose. We use Google Analytics only to understand general website traffic — your personal financial data is never shared with Google or any third party.

3. Data Isolation

Every user's data is completely isolated and private. Your expenses, income, and financial information are linked only to your account. Each family member or user has their own separate, private view of their own data.

4. Data Storage

Your data is stored on secure servers. We use standard security practices to protect your data from unauthorized access.

5. We Never Sell Your Data

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal or financial data with any third party. Ever. AccBook has no advertisers and no data partnerships.

6. Cookies and Local Storage

AccBook uses the following to store data in your browser:

• Session cookie (sw_tok) — a secure login token stored as an HTTP-only cookie. Keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. Deleted when you sign out.
• Local storage — used to save your app preferences such as theme (light/dark mode), currency, and last used settings. This data never leaves your device.
• Google Analytics (GA4) — we use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit AccBook and which pages they view. This uses cookies set by Google to collect anonymous usage data such as page views and session duration. No personal financial data is shared with Google. You can opt out of Google Analytics by using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

We do not use advertising cookies, remarketing cookies, or any cookies for profiling or targeted advertising.

7. Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data directly from Settings → Your Data → Delete Account inside the app. All data is permanently removed within 7 days of deletion request.

Google Analytics data (anonymous visit statistics) is retained by Google as per their own data retention policies.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Export all your data at any time using the Export feature in Settings
• Request deletion of your account and all data
• Update your personal information through the app

9. Children's Privacy

AccBook is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will update the date at the top of this page when changes are made. Continued use of AccBook after changes means you accept the updated policy.

11. Data Security & Breach Notification

We implement standard security measures including encrypted passwords, secure HTTP-only session cookies, CSRF protection, and rate limiting on authentication endpoints to protect your data.

In the unlikely event of a data breach that affects your personal data, we will notify affected users via the email address registered with their account within a reasonable timeframe, and take immediate steps to contain and remediate the breach.
